"It is important that the BBFC’s classification standards are in line with what the public expects and that its decisions take account of what the public finds acceptable at each age category. Therefore every 4-5 years, the BBFC carries out a major public consultation exercise to find out what the public thinks about the age rating of films and videos before they are released and whether the BBFC’s classification standards meet public concerns."- bbfc.co.uk
U- No horror
PG- No detail or violence, some blood. Violence is more acceptable in a historical or fantasy setting, because of the distancing this gives. As far as horror goes, we allow some 'jump' moments and scary scenes, but sequences showing significant or realistic violence, horror or threat must not be prolonged.

Creating an atmosphere
In this short clip of 'The Grudge' I feel that an intense atmosphere has been created successfully. I think this has been done by using
The little boy has one strand of light over him which ensure the audience can see him.
The non-diegetic sound gets louder and quicker when the cat is shown to build the tension of seeing the boy in the wardrobe. |

REsearch of titles
|
This opening has the main institution at the beginning 'Summit entertainment' this is shown for 20 seconds, this shows its importance to the film and shows much much the film depended on this company. It is then shown again straight after on the first establishing shot of the location, it is shown for five seconds with a pause before the next one. Karz entertainment is then shown for five seconds, Karz produced the film which is why they are second. They are also based in the US which implies the film is American. The title 'Sorority Row' appears for seven seconds in the party scene, it fades out and then the other titles continue for the first four minutes. They are all shown in order of importance, the actors and actress are shown before the editors, production designers and costume designers.
The titles are written in white to contrast the dark background. The typography is bold and stands out from the mise-en-scene. Brief order of importance; actors/actresses, casting, coproducer, music supervisor, music, costume designer ,editor, production designer, photography and finally the executive producer. |
